When she was 10 years old, Sabere was sold to a 55-year-old member of the Taliban. For six years she suffered until she eventually found a way to escape, ending up in a women shelter, a sanctuary for Sabere and others like her. The film follows Sabere’s courageous attempts to divorce her husband and return home to her family but as Sabere’s situation slowly improves it becomes clear that her sister, who has been sold for 50 sheep, may suffer the same fate. The film provides an intimate and moving account of the plight of a poverty stricken family trying to both protect their daughter and survive.
